Very late commentary on Adam Lambert
So I had a day off today and got to sit in front of the TV for a couple hours and finally catch up on some shows including fast-forwarding through the controversial AMAs from over a week ago. There’s been a ton of controversy over Adam Lambert’s performance because he was very sexual and mostly because he kissed a man. (It was totally okay when two known straight women — Madonna and Britney — kissed on TV, but two dudes, one of whom is known to be gay? Not acceptable!) I’ve figured this whole time that America was just being its Puritanical self by having this reaction. Now that I’ve watched the full performance, I think there are a lot of things that I’m surprised haven’t been brought up:
- His singing was horribly off-key. That’s the travesty of the performance.
- Two men making out is hot. But it kinda looked like the keyboard player didn’t know it was coming and that Adam was going to eat his face off. If we’re going to make homosexuality accepted by society, can we have maybe a less violent example of male-on-male love?
-Adam totally tumbled and rolled on the stage in the middle of the song. He made it work, but it was clearly unintentional. Falling is funny! Why aren’t we talking about that?
